North America’s Top 50 Largest Airports in 2021 — by Number of Flights
Since Corona still has a massive impact on airlines and airports around the globe, many rankings look different. However, we wanted to know the details. Therefore, we’ve analyzed the traffic figure of North America’s airports from February to July 2021. As a result, we present North America’s Top 50 Largest Airports in 2021.
Summary
We’ve summarized some essential, in case you don’t have time to go through the entire ranking.
U.S. Dominates
When preparing the ranking, we knew that United States airports would play an important role — for sure. However, we did not expect to see such dominance. Only three out of 50 airports are based in Canada. Moreover, the three Canadian airports are ranked 42nd, 43rd, and 44th.
Five Airports in the 100K+ Club
During the analyzed period from February to July 2021, five airports managed to operate more than 100,000 flights: Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte, Chicago O’Hare, and Denver. However, with 96,100 flights, Los Angeles made it very close to the 100,000.
Atlanta Remains Number #1
Similar to pre-COVID time, Atlanta plays in its own league. Compared to Dallas on position two, Atlanta operated 40,000 additional flights. As a result, Atlanta remains North America’s largest airline by the number of flights.
