September marked the month when Qatar Airways became Middle East's biggest airline by flight volume. With more than 13,800 flights, Qatar Airways pushed Saudia off the throne. Compared to August, Qatar Airways added 1,000 additional flights.

On-Time Performance

Qatar Airways completed September with an on-time performance of 87.3%. In other words, 87.3% of Qatar Airways flights arrived in a corridor of +15/-15 minutes compared to their scheduled arrival time.
Compared to August, Qatar Airways boosted its punctuality by 12pp. However, the carrier is still behind other European top airlines in terms of punctuality.

Schedule Reliability

Qatar Airways achieved strong schedule reliability in September. In total, the Doha-based airline canceled 57 scheduled flights. As a result, Qatar Airways' schedule reliability leveled at 99.6%.

Compared to August, schedule reliability slightly decreased by 0.2pp. Nevertheless, with 99.6%, Qatar Airways maintained very solid schedule reliability.

Flight Volume — 6 Months History

After flight growth stagnation from March to June, Qatar Airways seems to be back on the growth track. Since July, the airline has been adding 1,000 flights every month. Therefore, it is likely that Qatar Airways will operate more than 15,000 monthly flights in October.

In other words, the percentage of flights that an airline didn’t cancel. We consider schedule reliability above 95% as good (green), from 90%-95% as ok (orange), and below 90% as weak (red).
