Airline Review: Airline With Most Flights on 6th October 2021

American Airlines - Busiest Airlines on 5th October 2021 by flight volume
American Airlines remains the airline with the highest flight volume

American Airlines maintains its position as the world’s biggest airline — and as the only airline that operates more than 5,000 daily flights. On 6th October, American Airlines operated 5,092 flights. On position two, United Airlines surpassed Delta Air Lines for the first time in a while. United operated ~50 flights more than Delta on 6th of October.

Compared to the recent days, Ryanair was surpassed by China Southern and ranks fifth today. However, China Eastern Airlines is also very close behind Ryanair. Besides Ryanair and Turkish Airlines, all European carriers operated less than 1,000 flights.

Moreover, Ryanair lost another position and ranks 7th. After China Southern Airlines surpassed Ryanair yesterday, China Eastern followed today. On top of that, most of the European airlines remain below 1,000 daily flights — except for Ryanair and Turkish Airlines.

Also, similar to the last review, there’s no airline from Latin America among the list of the world’s busiest airlines.

Airline Review: Most Punctual Airlines on 6th October 2021

On 5th October, Oman Air —once again— conquers the title "most punctual airline"
On 6th October, Oman Air —once again— conquers the title “most punctual airline.”

For several consecutive days, Oman Air remains the most punctual airline. Although Oman Air’s on-time performance is slightly below yesterday’s performance, the Oman flag-carrier continues to rank 1st. However, again we have to mention that Oman Air is operating a minimal flight volume at the moment.

Aer Lingus and Vueling, Europe’s top players in terms of punctuality achieved punctuality results of 97.4% resp. 94.4%. Besides, the big Chinese carriers closed the day —again— with a strong on-time performance.

Moreover, and again similar to the last rankings, there’s no airline from North America among the top 15.

Airline Review: Least Punctual Airlines on 6th October 2021 — Etihad
Etihad was the least punctual airline on the 6th of October

Let’s have a look at the airlines with poor on-time performance on the 6th of August. Although the exact position might have changed the contained airlines remain almost identical to yesterday’s analysis. Alitalia is “maintaining” is devastating performance. However, today Air India, Air Arabia, and Etihad showed even weaker results.

Ryanair and Lufthansa are again part of the ranking with a sub-optimal performance of 86%.

Ryanair operated the most stable schedule on 5th of October
Ryanair operated the most stable schedule on the 6th of October.

For the third time in a row, Ryanair was the most reliable airline. Once again, the airline didn’t cancel a single flight. Again similar to the last analysis, all airlines in the top 15 achieved a reliability level of 100%. However, at that time we don’t have an Asian airline on the ranking — and with JetBlue only one carrier from North America.

GoAir (GoFirsT) canceled 20% of its schedule on the 6th of October

GoAir continued its weak performance in terms of schedule reliability. Once again, the carrier canceled 20% of its schedule. However, with more than 200 cancellations, China Eastern reported the most cancellations on that day.

Moreover, it is interesting to see that Emirates and other Middle East airlines have started to cancel flights again. Check out this article to find out more about the reasons behind it!

Definitions

Flight Volume
In our case, we define flight volume as the number of flights the airline will perform in a certain period, September 2021.

Punctuality
Punctuality counts all flights that arrive on time at their destination airport and puts them into relation to the overall operated number of flights. On-time in this context is defined as +15/-15 compared to the scheduled arrival time. We consider an on-time performance above 90% as good (green), from 80%-90% as ok (orange), and below 80% as weak (red).

Flight Schedule Reliability (Reliability)
Schedule reliability counts the number of actually performed flights concerning scheduled flights. In other words, the percentage of flights that an airline didn’t cancel. We consider schedule reliability above 95% as good (green), from 90%-95% as ok (orange), and below 90% as weak (red).
