One of the most asked questions we receive is the number of daily flights a specific airport operates. So that’s why we want to provide some airport statistics and answer the question, “How many daily flights do airports operate.”

Airport Statistic: How Many Daily Flights Do Airports Operate?

How Many Daily Flights Do Airports Operate?

Of course, there’s no one universal answer to the question “How many daily flights do airports operate.” Airports operate a different amount of flights on different days a week. Moreover, the number of flights differ from month to month and especially between summer and winter season.

Therefore, the below-shown figures can provide a snapshot of the daily flight volume. However, the numbers give an indicator of the flight volume of airports.

What We Checked?

We checked 50 of the world’s biggest airports from three continents: North America, Europe, and Asia for this blog post. First, to analyze the flight volume, we had a look at the average number of flights in August 2021. Then, to make it easier for you to find the particular answer concerning how many daily flights airports operate, we clustered the airports according to flight volumes. So let’s get into the details!

Important
Due to COVID-19, the operations of many airports are still heavily impacted. Subsequently, the shown flight figures shouldn’t be considered static. On the contrary, the figures are highly volatile and might differ from daily.

Airports That Operate More Than 1,000 Daily Flights

We kick off our list with airports that operate more than 1,000 daily flights. And, as you can see below, the list is pretty short. Currently, there’s only one airport globally that operates more than 1,000 flights: Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Airports That Operate More Than 500 but Less Than 1,000 Daily Flights

The list of airports that operate more than 500 daily flights is also very small. And, even more interestingly, the list contains airports from the United States of America solely. For example, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Denver are close behind Chicago and operate only a few flights shy of a thousand. Besides that, we have Charlotte, Los Angeles, Houston, and Seattle on the list.

The list of airports that operate more than 400 but less than 500 daily flights shows a mixed field of airports from North America, Europe, and Asia. However, with seven airports on the list, the United States again plays a dominant role. Besides that, we have Europe’s biggest hubs: Istanbul, Amsterdam, Paris, and Frankfurt.
