For the third time, we are thrilled to present the top 100 airlines with Twitter followers. After overwhelming feedback on our latest report, we decided to publish the Airline Twitter Ranking every month. Enjoy the analysis!

Overall, airline followers stable
When looking at the overall follower numbers of the world’s top 100 airlines on Twitter, we see a slight increase of 0.5%. Total followers of the world’s top 100 airlines up to 55 million.

Top 40 airlines stable
Moreover, when looking at the top 40 airlines on Twitter, we don’t see many movements. Besides Air Canada and Easyjet, who swapped positions, there’s no rank change among the top 40. On top of that, most of the airlines recorded follower increases or decreases below 1%.

Five new airlines among the top 100 airlines on Twitter
This month, we’ve added five new airlines to the ranking we missed out on recent rankings. Romania’s Blue Air enters the charts at position 98 with a follower count of 6,000. On position 93, we welcome Eastern Airways with 16,000 followers, slightly behind Air Nostrum, who enters the ranking on position 92. Hainan Airlines enters the charts on position 80 with a follower count of 45,000. And finally, Norwegian is new on rank 63 with 117,000 followers.

Royal Air Maroc & China Southern are the top Gainers!
Royal Air Maroc increased its Twitter followers by 15.2% during the last months and climbs four positions. Therefore, RAM ranks 49th among the world’s biggest airlines on Twitter. China Southern is the second top gainer: The Chinese carrier managed to grow its follower base by 10.5%. However, due to Norwegian entry, China Southern lost one position and ranked 77th.
